Introduction

When COVID-19 hit the world in 2019, and many organizations required their employees to work from home, it was necessary to have technologies that will ensure continuity of work. The meetings had to take place to strategize on the next cause of action in the said organizations. The employer and the employees had to maintain their relationship and the productivity and efficiency of the employees had to continue.

It was then that many organizations adopted the use of Zoom Meetings. Zoom meetings is a cross-platform proprietary video teleconferencing software program developed by Zoom Video Communications in October 2011. Zoom meetings allow users to securely hold video conferences, webinars, chats, share documents, and other online events in a convenient and secure way. While Zoom Meeting is in session, it can be recorded and archived for future reference.

Although Zoom Meetings is proprietary software, it comes with a free plan which allows 100 concurrent users for a restricted period of 40 minutes. Once upgraded by selecting your plan, it can accommodate many more users.

In this article, we will look at Zoom Meetings installation in Rocky Linux 8.

Features of Zoom Meetings

  • It is cross-platform : works on Windows, MacOS , Linux , Android , ios, Chrome OS.
  • Zoom Meetings client is very easy to use.
  • The free basic plan accomodates many users.
  • Has three plans to choose from i.e Pro, Business and Education.
  • Easy to record the session for a later review.
  • Ability to schedule meetings for a later date and send reminders.
  • Very convinient and secure as each user requires a passcode to access a given meeting.
  • The admin admits the users hence unknown users are not admitted.
  • The admin can then make one of the users the host of the meeting to have full control.
  • you dont require a Zoom account to join a meeting, only a Zoom client.
